Consolations, for piano (2019) – 11′ – [op. 35]

[it] Ripetere può diventare un’ossessione. Quando la ripetizione non ripete precisamente quello che dovrebbe ripetere allora hai l’impressione che il tempo ti sfugga dalle mani, che ti anticipi sempre e che non puoi fare altro che seguirlo: Consolations. L’idea di variazione differenziale è alla base del brano. Una regola: non ritornare mai indietro; fare in modo che nulla torni come prima.

[en] Repeating can become an obsession. When repetition does not repeat exactly what it should repeat then you have the impression that time is sliding out of your hands, that you always anticipate it and that you can’t do anything but follow it: Consolations. The idea of differential variation is at the base of the piece. One rule: never go back; make sure that nothing goes back as before.

[fr] La répétition peut devenir une obsession. Lorsque la répétition ne répète pas exactement ce qu’elle devrait répéter, vous avez alors l’impression que le temps vous échappe, que vous l’anticipez toujours et que vous ne pouvez rien faire d’autre que de le suivre : Consolations. L’idée de variation différentielle est à la base de la pièce. Une règle : ne jamais revenir en arrière ; veiller à ce que rien ne revienne comme avant.
